Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are there co-founder or language requirements for the Global Venture Builder Program?
A co-founder or C-level executive must be fluent in English. The company must be committed to expanding to the US market. A participant must be a decision-maker capable of making strategic decisions related to overseas expansion (CXO level is recommended).
2. Do we already need to have a US entity or customers to join the program?
ā€No, you do not need to have a US legal entity or traction in the US prior to applying. We work with you to develop your US expansion strategy.
3. What are the program dates?
ā€We run this program on a rolling basis with individualized support for each company. We will accept and onboard startups throughout the year.
4. Has ERA Global worked with Japanese startups before? Yes. ERA Global has supported Japanese startups' expansion to the US for over a decade. Japanese startups have hailed from Tokyo, the Ibaraki Prefecture, and many other regions of Japan. Testimonials can be accessed through video or news posts here.
5. Do founders need to relocate to the US? Relocation is not required, but we highly recommend that at least one founder spend time in the US, especially during events, key meetings, and major US customer and investor engagements.
6. What does the investment process look like? Selected companies will receive a term sheet. The investment is typically made via a SAFE or equity round, depending on the company's funding structure.
7. Can pre-seed companies apply even if they don't have a product yet? Yes. Pre-seed and ideation-stage companies are welcome. We work with you on customer discovery, problem validation, and MVP design from the ground up.
8. Does the program invest in pre-seed companies?
For pre-seed companies, the program will prepare the founders to be ready to apply to a US accelerator program for funding.
9. Do pre-seed companies need to be in climate tech?
No. The pre-seed track is open to all sectors. Series A companies are prioritized for investment if they are in climate tech.
